Our operations include many strong brands that together create a unique and attractive meeting place where we welcome almost two million visitors each year. As an employee with us, you work together with a large, engaged, and close-knit team and contribute to the development of our operations, both now and for the future.

Svenska Mässan has nearly a hundred years of experience in business-developing meeting creation.

We want to be the arena for good meetings that create conditions for developing ideas and future businesses. The fair portfolio consists of about 30 of our own brands alongside commissioned fairs, targeting a wide range of industries. Some examples of our brands are the Book Fair, Eurohorse, the Automotive Fair, and Vitalis. The portfolio is in constant development to meet our customers' various needs. With leading expertise, solid experience, and great capacity, we create arenas for good business opportunities at our unique facility in the heart of the city. Our ambition is to be our customers' most business-generating partner. Svenska Mässan is part of Svenska Mässan Gothia Towers.

About the role

We are looking for a business-driven and proactive Salesperson who will work dedicatedly with the Book Fair – the largest cultural event in the Nordic region. The role is characterized by relationship-based B2B sales where you independently and as part of a team engage both new and existing customer groups. Your customers are primarily exhibitors at the fair and various partners.

As a salesperson, you belong to the Exhibition Sales & Growth department where you work within our commercial team with many colleagues who together strive to create the best experience for our customers. Each project (fair) is project-managed in a team-based manner where you will be part of a project team led by the Business Responsible for the Book Fair. The team also includes, among others, project managers, coordinators, and marketing managers. Your role will be to, in collaboration with the team, secure the project's set sales targets continuously regarding participation in the form of space sales (booth space), partnerships, and exposure.

You actively participate in developing new customer outreach, sales materials, and strategies and have a curiosity to test new working methods to achieve the best possible sales results.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of building long-term customer relationships and works purposefully to strengthen trust by adapting communication to the customer's needs and situation. Engagement occurs with the right channel in focus – primarily via phone, email, physical and digital meetings – always with the goal of creating value and results for customers.

We also see that you:

  • Have relevant post-secondary education.
  • Have solid experience in complex service sales (B2B), preferably in our or related industry, with documented successes.
  • Are strongly business-driven, structured, and proactive in your work approach.
  • Have a pronounced ability to build and nurture long-term customer relationships.
  • Are unpretentious, creative, and responsive to the changing needs of customers and the industry.
  • Are a team player with a broad understanding that a project is a team effort and never a one-person show.
  • Have the courage and commitment to drive change and contribute to the team's collective success.
  • Are accustomed to sales being measured and displayed in systems and on visible boards.
  • Can identify with our core values of Engagement, Collaboration, and Courage in your working style.
  • Experience from the literature and/or other cultural industries is an advantage.

Why should you choose us?

We are a large and close-knit team with positive and social colleagues. With a lot of joy, courage, and commitment, we work closely together to provide the best overall experience for our millions of visitors. Every day. All year round. It is fun to go to work because we get to contribute to creating the most attractive meeting place in Europe. In our dynamic operations, there is much experience and knowledge across various professional areas. Since we have so many different operations, there are a large number of opportunities that can extend over an entire career.

The Book Fair in Gothenburg is the largest cultural event in the Nordic region and one of the largest book fairs in Europe with over 95,000 visitors, 800 exhibitors, and 300 seminars. Every year at the end of September, the Swedish book industry, as well as educational actors, authorities, civil society, and international exhibitors, take their place on the fair floor. Thousands of program items are arranged on stages and in booths, and a prominent Guest of Honour leaves their mark on the fair with literature, food, and culture. In our rights center, foreign agents negotiate rights with Swedish and Nordic publishers.
